The Future Of Car Insurance?

An alarming article appeared in yesterday’s Chicago Tribune regarding a new patent recently obtained by Allstate. The patent essentially covers new technology, including cameras and sensors, that would allow Allstate to gather and record a huge amount of data about drivers and passengers in the vehicles it insures. The technology will allow Allstate to find out the number and type of passengers in your car, whether you are listening to the radio or on the phone, and even head and eye position within the vehicle. Allstate has even mentioned the possibility of taking this private information and selling it to others. Allstate, if they have their way, would essentially be changing its customers cars into “spy cars” that spy on their own drivers and passengers. Unfortunately, this alarming intrusion into drivers’ privacy may very well represent the future of auto insurance. Click here
